In my past, there were warm summer nights that seem like a dream. Wispy clouds floated past the low, blue moon, and insectoid thrumming filled the air. My best friend, Matt, was the dungeon master. His parent's had a camper on the side of their house, and we huddled around a candle late at night and played a zombie role-playing game. Matt had invented the rules. It was a basic D100 system with a body-chart for hit locations. We had hex-paper adventures in cities drawn in pencil, and the night seemed to last forever. That's what watching Black Summer feels like to me...a zombie role-playing game. I become the character(s), running from the undead, hiding in an abandoned bus or house or warehouse, and desperately looking for a weapon. You can find it on Netflix. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQA1omPJN24
