Hurrah for the Internet Speculative Fiction Database!!!

Hola amigos! I sort of feel like my life is complete. Check out the ISFDB ! There's now a listing for J. N. Cameron ! And I'm super happy that The Toilet Zone is listed with Weirdbook 38 , two publications I am extremely proud to be a part of. Speaking of The Toilet Zone , it has been receiving well-deserved attention. Here's a review from IndiHorrorWriter.com ! If you do a quick search, there are more reviews out there from writers like Brian James Lewis and others. What's next? I have two short stories in quality anthologies in 2020, and another to be published in 2021. I continue to write daily, now that I'm free of my soul-crushing job and living on the severance package. People keep asking me about writing a novel. I've written three, but I hate them all and continue to work on short stories. The words of Prof. Doug Unger still ring true to me..."Joe, you need to focus on revision." I'm an amateur who needs to spend more time...

The Toilet Zone is here! Read my story "A Nice Vacation."

Hello fans of Lovecraftian horror! Check out my new story, "A Nice Vacation," inside of the anthology, The Toilet Zone ! The story has been described as strange, bizarre, unexpected, and grotesque! You can find it HERE, at Amazon.com! The Toilet Zone ! A collection of 32 short horror tales best read over water... -All the best, J.N. Cameron

Black Summer, Season 1

In my past, there were warm summer nights that seem like a dream. Wispy clouds floated past the low, blue moon, and insectoid thrumming filled the air. My best friend, Matt, was the dungeon master. His parent's had a camper on the side of their house, and we huddled around a candle late at night and played a zombie role-playing game. Matt had invented the rules. It was a basic D100 system with a body-chart for hit locations. We had hex-paper adventures in cities drawn in pencil, and the night seemed to last forever. That's what watching Black Summer feels like to me...a zombie role-playing game. I become the character(s), running from the undead, hiding in an abandoned bus or house or warehouse, and desperately looking for a weapon. You can find it on Netflix. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQA1omPJN24

Serial killer horror in Shopping List 3: 21 Tales of Terror!

If you like gruesome, horrific short stories, then you'll love my most recent publication in the anthology Shopping List 3: 21 Tales of Terror!   You can find the book HERE at Amazon! Please pick up a copy and leave a review (5 stars only)! Warning. This is a disturbing story. Okay, all of them are disturbing. Am I a disturbed writer? Of course I am, and I like to read expressive, colorful, and frightening literature. To me, there are not enough short stories out there like Stephen King's Graveyard Shift , or Ray Bradbury's The Small Assassin . So I write what I would like to read. Enjoy!

Creatures from outer space invade the suburbs in Weirdbook #38!!!!!!!

I once had a dream about monstrous spiders invading from space. I woke up from the nightmare and wrote it down. Years later, I found the mad scribbling and transformed it into a short story. The short was accepted and published in Wildside Press' Weirdbook #38 in 2018. If you enjoy short, gruesome horror/sci-fi, then you'll love Abomination is Her Name . You can find Weirdbook #38 at Amazon.com!

Welcome to the World of Cannibalistic Post-Apocalyptic Sci Fi/Horror

October of 2017 celebrated my return to published writing. I was proud to have my short story Hunting the Southern Flatlands published in the anthology Bon Appetit: Stories & Recipes for Human Consumption. The story follows a father and son who live in the post-apocalyptic world that was once America. It's a tale of family, values, traditions, and cannibalism. I hope you enjoy it! Bon Appetit: Stories & Recipes for Human Consumption can be found at Amazon.com.
